Hey, my name is Matt and this is my personal website. I’m not currently blogging here, though that might change in 2021 as I have some topics I’d like to explore (self improvement and stoicism).
For now, here is a little bit of info about me.
Work
I currently work for a media company that publishes websites in the online gambling space.
My role varies day to day but revolves around managing writers, auditing and creating content, improving outdated content, etc. with the goal of increasing traffic via SEO and clicks to affiliate partners.
I started this role in 2020, but I’ve worked with the company as a freelance writer since 2016. I was ready for a change and some new challenges, so it made sense for all of us for me to become an employee.
Before that, I freelanced for a variety of publishers in the gambling space. I started freelancing in 2009.
I held a variety of jobs prior to working for myself. When I was young, I worked in restaurants. Then in a shop repairing motorcycles and ATVs. And then in construction, building and installing custom ornamental rail and fencing.
Hobbies
I work on my own sites in my spare time. One of my sites is The Divot, which publishes golf content. I took up golf in 2019 and was hooked from the start. It was perfect timing as the COVID-19 pandemic hit just a couple months later.
Since it looks like it’ll be a while before COVID-19 subsides, I’m looking at getting into leathercraft – making handmade wallets, belts, and other leather goods.
Other than my personal hobbies, I hang out with my wife at our home in Vancouver, Wa, which is where I’ve lived since 2006.
Once COVID-19 subsides, we’ll get back to our other hobbies/interests, which includes sampling the various restaurants in the Portland, Or and Vancouver, Wa area and traveling.
